Worthing Philharmonic Choir was formed in 1935 by Herbert Lodge as the Worthing Municipal. Over the years we have performed most of the standard works in the repertoire with many distinguished soloists, orchestras and conductors.

We perform a wide variety of choral music in both local churches and the Assembly Hall in Stoke Abbott Road, Worthing. We rehearse Tuesday evenings at 7.30pm at Worthing Baptist Church, Christchurch Road, Worthing.  If reading music is new to you we offer free training sessions in small, informal groups with one of our members.

Our concert on Good Friday on 2nd April, a performance of Verdi's Requiem with Worthing Choral Society, marked the end of Donovan Brown's 40 year association with the choir.  It was a wonderful concert to mark this occasion.

We are therefore moving into a new phase in the life of the choir and have appointed Stephen Dummer as our new musical director.  His first concert was our summer concert on Saturday 12 June 2010 at the newly refurbished St Paul's Church in Worthing.  We performed Joseph Horovitz's Summer Sunday, a comical-tragical-ecological Pastoral for choir and piano, together with some English part songs and a clarinet solo played by Steve.

Another exciting project is taking part in the Arundel Festival on Saturday 28 August. The women in the choir will be performing the first performance of a new Cantata, being composed for the occasion by Dee Parker.

In addition we are performing with the Worthing Philharmonic Orchestra on Saturday 2 October 2010 for the very popular Last Night of the Proms concert.
