About Us

Worthing Philharmonic Choir was formed in 1935 by Herbert Lodge as the Worthing Municipal. Over the years we have performed most of the standard works in the repertoire with many distinguished soloists, orchestras and conductors.

Under our Choral Director, Donovan Brown, we perform a wide variety of choral music in both local churches and the Assembly Hall in Stoke Abbott Road, Worthing. We rehearse Tuesday evenings at 7.30pm in the Gordon Room at the Worthing Town Hall complex.  If reading music is new to you we offer free training sessions in small, informal groups with one of our members.

We started our 2009-2010 season by joining with Worthing Philharmonic Orchestra for their very popular Last Night of the Proms concert on Saturday 19th September.  Our annual Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, Hark the Herald Angels Swing, was held on Sunday 13 December and was a very enjoyable evening.

On Good Friday 2nd April 2010 we are performing Verdi's Requiem with Worthing Choral Society in The Assembly Hall in Worthing.  Do come and join us.  See the concerts page for more information.

We end the season with our summer concert on 12 June 2010 at the newly refurbished St Paul's Church in Worthing.

In addition we are performing with the Alassio Orchestra on Saturday 22 May 2010 for Land of Hope and Glory.

Would you like a choir to lead the singing at your wedding?  We can offer a smaller choir, a wide repertoire and an organist.  Please contact our secretary for further details.

We welcome new singers in all voices. Our secretary, Bridget Hobson, will be happy to give you more information about the choir and answer your queries.
